Schmidt is a long-time MAP trainer and coach

After spending the last three years as a director of training and recruitment for the Minnesota Advancement Program, Corbin Schmidt has been hired as an assistant coach for the University of Alaska Fairbanks men's hockey team.

“I’m extremely excited about the addition of Corbin to our coaching staff; he is a great fit for our program,” head coach Dallas Ferguson said in a press release. “He brings a strong understanding of the identity of our program and the core values of Nanook hockey.”

Our longtime colleague is a former defenseman for the Nanooks (2001-05), so he should feel at home in his new position. Schmidt was a top-notch trainer, and he helped to influence and improve hundreds of athletes during his tenure with MAP.

We're very happy for Corbin and wish him the best of luck.
