Defenseman Milica McMillen has been named as the WCHA Rookie of the Week after the Gophers swept North Dakota over the weekend. McMillen, a MAP North member, contributed three points in the two wins. From GophersSports.com:
"The St. Paul, Minn. native notched her first goal in the opening game of the series with a blast from the blue line to help the Gophers defeat UND, 5-1. Earlier in the contest, she also assisted senior Megan Bozek on her game-tying goal in the second period. MCMillen added her second goal of the series in the third period of Sunday's 4-2 win by converting a Hannah Brandt rebound and poking it under UND's goaltender. As a blueliner, she also played a huge roll on the defensive end by helping limit North Dakota to 40 shots on goal and only one power-play goal in seven opportunities."
Congrats to Milica for earning the honors, and the MAP North staff is thrilled to see her thriving in her first season with the No. 1-ranked Gophers.
