Two former MAP North Hockey members, Brandon Wahlin and Justin Lehr, were honored by the NAHL with Player of the Month awards for December.

Wahlin (White Bear Lake, MN) is a high-scoring forward for the Austin Bruins, and he extended his league lead by topping the NAHL with 14 points (six goals, eight assists). From the NAHL press release:

"There is one name at the top of the current NAHL scoring leaders and that name belongs to Austin Bruins forward Brandon Wahlin.  The 20-year old from White Bear Lake, Minnesota, is having a career season and it has coincided with his Bruins enjoying the largest lead of any division leader in the NAHL...

Now in his second season in the NAHL, Wahlin has already set career highs for goals, assists and points, something his coach Chris Tok attributes to his hard work and attitude heading into this season."

Lehr (Roseville, MN) is a fellow Bruins member, and he has been one of the league's top goalies. He opened December with a 1-0 loss but then reeled off five straight wins. Overall, Lehr allowed only seven goals over his six appearances (143 saves). From the NAHL press release:

"The native of Roseville, Minnesota, was almost unbeatable during the month as he posted a 5-1-0 record, including a sparkling 1.15 goals against average and a 95.3% save percentage...

Bruins head coach Chris Tok said that Lehr and the Bruins goaltending in general, has been the backbone of their success so far this season."

Congrats from the MAP North Hockey staff to Brandon and Justin for earning their monthly awards and for their continued success in the NAHL!
