Making it to the World Women's U-18 Championship is no leisurely skate in the pleasure rink. One long, rigorous tryout follows the next. A player needs to first advance through her own state, then the national development camp, the U-18 select team - and finally, the roster is cut down to the U-18 National Team.

Emily Snodgrass and Courtney Kukowski grew up playing hockey primarily with boys. There were a few other girls with them during the winter seasons, but when summer hockey came around - well, it was just them.

USA U-18 Team in Sweden
Congratulations to Hanna Brandt and Milica McMillen on an outstanding performance at the World Championships. USA beat Cananda 5-2 with Hannah scoring 1 Goal and 3 Assists in the Gold Medal Game. Not only did Team USA capture their 3rd Gold Medal in 4 years, but Hannah and Milica earned some incredible achievements:
Hannah Brandt: Selected as 1 of 3 Best Players on Team USA, Tied for 1st in Scoring with 5 Goals and 5 Assists, Tied for 3rd in Goals, Tied for 3rd in Assists, 1st in Face-Offs with 74.75%, and Tied for 3rd in Plus/Minus with +11.
Milica McMillen: Selected as Best Defenseman of the Tournament, Tied for 5th in Goals with 4 Goals, Tied for 1st in Plus/Minus with +12, and 2nd for Defensmen Scoring with 6 points.

Congratulations to Corinne Buie for a great start to her College career. Corinne was named Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week for games held the weekend of October 1st - 3rd. This was the first weekly honor for a Friar Hockey Player of the 2010-2011 season. Corinne scored three goals in her first two collegiate games. Way to go Corinne!
